Just imagine this scenario...you are going to let someone, you don't know, live in your home. You are then going to trust that this person is going to be responsible enough to pay part of your mortgage, each month, on time. Not only that, you are hoping that this person is also not going to cause or bring trouble into your home because of something they are doing or have done.
With that said, would you like to know more about this person's past, as it pertains to paying items on time and what their criminal background maybe?
If you answered yes, then you understand why it is important for many property owners to request a background/credit check. This process allows landlords and property managers to assess the likelihood that the prospective tenant will fulfill their promise to pay the rent on-time for the term of the lease, and while doing so, take good care of the property.
FYI: When renting, a Background/Credit check is run for every person 18 years or older who will be living in the home.
